Here, high-quality building material is produced from simple Jurassic limestone. The Märker Cement Plant in Bavarian Swabia, which has won several architectural awards, is considered a masterpiece of contemporary industrial architecture. The production process begins in the company’s own quarry, proceeds through the circular mixing bed, the large raw. mill, the massive rotary kilns, the clinker silos, the cement mills, and finally into the loading silos. The Harburg cement plant can thus produce up to 3,000 tons of cement and 60 tons of lime per day.
