Going backward before you can move forward
Super deep title, huh? ;)

I thought to start taking more shots of the absolute mundane things I see or experience all the time in my day-to-day life. And, of course, there's nothing especially interesting in this image. It's just what I see, every time I'm about to back out of my garage. This image isn't about lighting or framing. It's in black and white only to help reduce it a bit, to make it a bit more generic and maybe more broadly familiar. (Hope it did that at least!)

I do a ton of searching out of shots that I think will be unambiguously beautiful, in some simple and direct way. I will probably always search those kinds of images out, but documenting these more mundane things... I think it might be interesting to see, over time, how that plays out as a collection.

I made no secret this week that my dad, aged 91, passed away. I posted a tribute photo. I started going through some of his personal albums and other items he accumulated. I find it absolutely fascinating trying to guess the motivation behind some of the things he clipped and glued into his books. Some are clear, but others, not as much. In a way, changing up some of my photography habits might make for some interesting pieces. I guess we'll have to see. I'll use the hashtag #mundane. And, of course, feel free to contribute to that tag if you're so motivated!

#iphone #bw I'm in #motion to stop from standing still.
