Arctic Ice Road
#cold Prudhoe Bay, Ak - I took this photo to show how reflective delineators are used to mark the ice roads. Without them, it would be easy to vere off especially when the wind kicks-up or snows hard creating white-out conditions. Although the permafrost is solid at this time of year, the tundra is still protected land. Violation of driving off the road could result in permanent suspension of visitation. Contrary to what some people believe (I've been in several discussions), it is an extremely clean environment. Summer time, it is green and lush. I do wish I had taken a photo of an extensively long histogram record (25’ in length) that showed temperature over time...in 1983, 103F was recorded. No records on the net, from what I've been able to find, show this.
