This is Mia, a wooden sculpture who lives with Debbie. I got to see Debbie for the first time in years and meet Mia this week. The black line you see down the left side of her body is a mark I made on the photo to show roughly where she’s cracked. I will never think of anything more profound to say about a crack than Leonard Cohen’s lyric in his 1992 song “Anthem”: “There is a crack in everything...that’s how the light gets in.” May we always celebrate our cracked places as the space where lies our light, hope, resilience, and love.
